Beschrijving
Chronicling a British officer as he wanders the globe and samples many different sorts of women, focusing particularly on an Arabian beauty. De Vane’s career advances and declines with rapidity, and along the way he often visits a girl’s reformatory school, before one day finding himself the owner of a harem. Unique to the period is De Vane’s writing style, a second-person kind of thing that really helps to bring a reader into the action.
